The Sheriff’s Office Civil and Clerical Unit is responsible for processing, serving, and executing court orders and related documents. As Clermont County grows and court dockets expand, the paperwork generated in the legal process becomes greater each year. For example, in 2007 the Civil Unit served over 11,300 civil papers. The Civil Unit, under the supervision of Sergeant Gary Payne is comprised of three deputies who serve the paperwork and a clerical staff who prepares and logs the paperwork for service or execution. The clerical staff also perform local criminal history and record checks for individuals, employers, and other agencies.
