The Clermont County Police Memorial
The Clermont County Police Memorial
Samuel Eugene Rouvier

In Honor of Those who have Fallen. Dedicated to Those who Serve.

The Clermont County Police Memorial was dedicated on October 9, 2004. Located at the Milford Community Fire Department on U.S. Route 50, the memorial stands in remembrance of the fallen law enforcement officers of Clermont County. Two names hold places of honor on the memorial:

Miami Township Constable
Roy E. Carter
End of Watch: Saturday, August 6, 1966
&
Clermont County Deputy Sheriff
Samuel Eugene Rouvier
End of Watch: Saturday, May 21, 1966

Deputy Rouvier was injured on the evening of April 28, 1966 while he and Clermont County Prosecutor Robert Jones were concluding a murder investigation. Deputy Rouvier's vehicle rounded a curve in the road and came upon three horses running side by side toward him. The horses ran into his vehicle. He suffered a severe head wound and succumbed to his injuries 23 days later, having never regained consciousness. Robert Jones suffered minor injuries and recovered.
