Clermont County Sheriff’s Office

Subject: Man Arrested After Standoff

Date: April 7, 2005

On Wednesday April 6, 2005 at approximately 10:00 PM, deputies were dispatched and responded to an address on Weil Rd (Monroe Township) for a domestic related report. The male party of the dispute, Thomas Myers, fled prior to deputies’ arrival. Deputies responded to Myers’ address, 1720 Clermontville- Laurel Road, also located within Monroe Township, for follow up investigation into the reported offense. While attempting to contact Myers, he answered the door armed with a shotgun. Myers retreated into his residence, and then exited again, leveling a shotgun at a responding deputy. Meyers again retreated, after stating to the deputy “Don’t make me come out there, I’ll kill you.”

A perimeter was set and, after failed attempts to contact Myers, the Special Response Team was dispatched to the scene. Attempts to contact Myers continued for several hours before Meyers exited his residence and was arrested by members of the Special Response Team without further incident or injury. Deputies executed a search warrant at the residence and recovered three loaded long guns (rifles): a Mossberg Shotgun 12 gauge Savage 308 bolt rifle loaded with hollow point ammunition, and a Marlin 30-30 lever action rifle.

Meyers was charged with Domestic Violence (Misdemeanor First degree), Inducing Panic (Misdemeanor First degree), Felonious Assault (Felony of First degree) and Handling Weapons while intoxicated (Misdemeanor First degree). Myers is scheduled for a bond hearing today at 1PM in Clermont County Municipal Court. Photographs can be obtained by contacting Mary Gregory at 732-7405.
