Re: Fatal Incident at 3404 SR 132, Clermont County (Hoppy's Bar)
At 2:11 this morning (Monday, 30 April 07), Clermont County dispatch received a call about an injury on the parking lot of Hoppy’s Bar. The operator of the vehicle involved (1990 Chevy Prism) was Paul R. Daugherty, M/W/38, 2008 Bethel-Maple Road (Hamersville OH mailing address, but in Clermont County). While attempting to leave the lot, a few other patrons attempted to convince him not to drive due to his intoxication. When he backed his vehicle from a parking spot, one of the patrons in the lot (Melissa Robbers, F/W/39, 1751 East Ohio Pike, Amelia) was knocked to the ground. When Daugherty pulled forward, the vehicle ran over Mrs. Robbers, pinning her underneath the vehicle. Police and medical personnel responded to the scene, and Mrs. Robbers was pronounced dead. Mr. Daugherty was taken to Clermont Mercy Hospital where he was treated for his injuries. He refused a alcohol/blood test, but a search warrant was obtained and a blood sample was taken with the results still pending. Charges filed include DUI and Aggravated Vehicular Homicide. He is confined in the Clermont County Jail pending a bond hearing that may be later today or tomorrow. You will need to check, confirm this with the Clermont County Municipal Clerk’s Office. A jail booking photo is available through Mary Gregory 732-7405.
