Re: Shooter Arrested
Date: Thursday, July 19, 2007
I previously reported that on Monday, July 16th a shooting had occurred at the BP gas station at the corner of St. Rt. 125 and Amelia-Olive Branch Road in Batavia Township at approx 3:55 a.m. Deputies responded and discovered evidence of a shooting, however the parties involved were no longer at the scene. Later in the morning, deputies received information that a suspected shooting victim was at a local hospital.
Today, July 19th, Clermont County Sheriff’s Deputies and Amelia Police Officers executed a search warrant with the Special Response Team at an apartment complex and arrested the individual responsible for the shooting without incident. Information obtained by our Investigative Section indicates the shooting incident was related to a drug deal. This is a prime example of the violence and criminal conduct we are seeing in Clermont County related illegal narcotics. Over the years, drug related violence has escalated from physical altercations to the point where individuals now use guns and other weapons.
The suspect, Yancey White, male 21 years of age, of 23 Lori Lane Apt. 11, Amelia, OH has been charged with Attempted Murder, a felony of the 1st degree, and will appear in Clermont County Municipal Court later today for a bond hearing. Additional charges may be filed as the case moves through the court system. White is currently on community control (probation) for a Trafficking in Cocaine conviction from Hamilton County. The victim, who will not be identified at this time, is in stable condition.
If any additional information is to be released, it will be released by the Clermont County Prosecutor’s Office at 732-7313. Photographs of Yancey White can be obtained by contacting Mary Gregory at 732-7405.
