Special Deputies

Special Deputy Unit logo

In 1998, the Sheriff's Office started a Special Deputy Unit. Special Deputies are unpaid volunteers who are fully trained and certified in accordance with Ohio law to the same extent as salaried, full-time Deputies. Each Special Deputy serves the Sheriff's Office approximately 16 hours per month and are utilized to supplement the regular Deputy force. Special Deputies also assist with extra-duty details and events such as fairs, festivals, and parades.

Please check the Employment link for announcements regarding Special Deputy positions.
