Pierce Township, Clermont County- Today, Sheriff Rodenberg released details of a large drug sweep that culminated with the Clermont County Grand Jury indicting seventeen persons on forty-six drug-related charges on January 2, 2011.
Rodenberg said the indictments were related to trafficking in drugs, possession of drugs, illegal assembly, permitting drug abuse, cultivating marijuana, and receiving stolen drugs. “The investigation seized cocaine, heroin, marijuana, and prescription narcotics including oxycodone, hydrocodone, valium, adderall, alprazolam, diazepam and morphine. Combined street value was over $176,000.00 and throughout the investigation we were able to seize twelve handguns and 1 long rifle.”
“Prior to the grand jury meeting on February 2nd to consider these cases, five adults and one juvenile were charged with a total of fourteen charges in association with the Pierce Township investigation. Currently those six individuals are at different stages in the court system” Rodenberg said.
Chief Deputy Rick W. Combs said, “The eight-month investigation ran parallel to the New Richmond sweep. The Grand Jury indicted eleven individuals on a variety of charges on January 26, 2011. Combs said agents from the Narcotics Unit, sheriff deputies and Pierce Township Police were active early Thursday morning to locate those indicted and process them through the correctional facility. Combs said “It’s likely more individuals will be charged once the cases are fully evaluated and reviewed.”
