Update on U.S. Bank Robbery suspect: Apprehended
37 year-old Darryl Brandon Griffin of Batavia, Clermont County was apprehended this afternoon without incident for his involvement in the robbery at the U.S. Bank located at 375 W. Main Street in the Village of Owensville. Darryl Brandon Griffin was indicted by the Clermont County Grand Jury today on one count of Aggravated Robbery, a Felony of the first degree. Griffin will appear in Clermont County Common Pleas Court for his arraignment at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday July 26, 2017. "I am extremely proud of the exceptional teamwork displayed by a number of law enforcement agencies who responded to the initial robbery. Coupled with the investigative efforts of our detectives, such a response resulted in the timely identification and apprehension of the individuals responsible." Sheriff Steve Leahy
Clermont County man sentenced for corrupting another with drugs and aggravated trafficking
Clermont County Sheriff Robert S. Leahy reports that Eric Sanchez, age 33, was sentenced today, July 20, 2017, to 6 years in prison for one count of Corrupting Another with Drugs, a felony of the second degree and one count of Aggravated Trafficking in Drugs, a felony of the third degree.
On April 5, 2017, Union Township Police and Fire Department personnel responded to an overdose involving two individuals. Both were revived with Narcan which was administered by EMS and transported to Anderson Mercy Hospital. Agents from the Clermont County Narcotics Unit, along with Union Township Police detectives, initiated an investigation into the trafficking of the drugs, which caused the overdoses. Evidence collected at the scene of the overdose and from a subsequent search warrant was tested at the Hamilton County Coroner’s Lab and confirmed to contain Carfentanil. The investigation determined Sanchez sold the drugs to the overdose victims. Sanchez was subsequently indicted and pled guilty to the above charges. He was sentenced to 6 years in prison by Judge Victor Haddad in Clermont County Common Pleas Court.
Today, CNN news anchor Poppy Harlow was at the Clermont County Jail to interview Sheriff Leahy. Topics of discussion included the opioid epidemic and the unique program opportunities offered at the Clermont County CASC program housed in the Clermont County Jail. Clermont County is taking an active role to battle this problem and we’re honored to be recognized nationally for our efforts.
