Wayne Twp. Burglary

Wayne Township- On Monday, 01-31-11 at 3:07 PM, the Clermont County Communication Center received a 911 call from a homeowner on Nakiya Lane, Wayne Township, stating he had arrived home and discovered a burglary in progress at his residence, and encountered one male subject inside of his residence.

The homeowner advised that the male fled out of the back door of the residence and he gave chase.  The homeowner stated the male subject entered a vehicle that was parked in his back yard and began to drive off. The home owner gave the dispatch center a description of the vehicle being driven by the subject. The homeowner followed the fleeing suspect, providing a direction of travel to dispatch until the vehicle was stopped by Ohio State Highway Patrol in Brown County on US 50, just east of SR 131. The suspect was secured by OSP until Clermont County Sheriff’s Road Patrol and Inv units arrived. There was a large gun safe in the back seat of the vehicle in plain view. The gun safe was positively identified as the homeowner’s.

The suspect was identified as Eric Lewis, male-white, age 30 of 19754 Vera Cruz Road, Fayetteville, Ohio.  Lewis was transported to the Clermont County Jail and was charged with one count of aggravated burglary, a felony of the second degree.

The investigation is continuing in an attempt to identify and locate an additional subject who was believed to have been with Lewis at the scene of the Burglary.
